Wynkoop honors co-founder and Gov.-elect John Hickenlooper with "Inaugur Ale" - denverpost.com

What kind of beer befits an incoming governor? Why, "Inaugur Ale," of course.

That's the brew the Wynkoop Brewing Co. has come up with for Gov.-elect John

Hickenlooper's inaugural Jan. 11. "It's inspired by a beer we used to brew here

called 'Capt. Hickenlooper's Flying Artillery Ale,' " said Andy Brown, head brewer

at the Wyn koop, which Hickenlooper co-founded. "It's like an Imperial Brown

Ale. I took that recipe and kind of redid it, adding Colorado ingredients." The

brewery considered other names and makes of beer, including "Hickenlager,"

a popular suggestion, before settling on a brown ale. When asked Thursday,

Hickenlooper himself wasn't sure what kind of beer best represents him. "A

 skinny beer?" he joked, before deciding, "A heavy beer, with substance." Precisely,

Brown said. "This is a heavy beer with substance. It's not bitter. It's not a
