Our Vineyard

Tony Valenzano, Sr. was a wine making hobbyist, planting vines and growing grapes since the early

1990s on our seven acre farm at 340 Forked Neck Road in Shamong -- right in the heart of the New

Jersey Pine Barrens. That hobby has grown into one of the Garden State's most prominent wineries.

Family and friends began to enjoy Tony Valenzano Sr.'s creations and, in 1996, Valenzano Winery

became a licensed winery. The initial year, less than 500 gallons of wines were produced at the

initial Shamong location, and a few accounts were opened with local fine wine stores. Since then,

we've expanded from one to three locations: the original Forked Necked Road location, another

at 1320 Old Indian Mills Road, and the recently completed new production facility on our farm at

1090 Route 206 in Shamong. This new, state-of-the-art facility gives Valenzano Winery the ability

to increase production to almost 30,000 gallons and 150,000 bottles per year, while utilizing the

most advanced methods of oenology and viticulture. A new barrel aging system will allow production

of some of the most flavorful and fulfilling dry reds and unique white wines available on the market

today. There is no room for error, and this is why we have invested in the most scientific and

state-of-the-art agricultural methods.

The end result is visible in our selection of award winning wines. These handmade wines will

continue to be offered at very reasonable prices while most of our premium reserves should

go down in price as our production and vineyard sizes increase. Sold direct from our farm and

from local retailers, we would match any of our wines against any wines produced in California

or Europe in the same price range.

Valenzano Winery is unique. Focus on the production of wines that wine critics and wine judges

will enjoy is not our goal. We recognize that everyone has different tastes and individual

preferences require a broader selection of wines. We produce both Merlot and Chardonnay,

along with a selection of vitis-labrusca varietals and hybrids that are unique and specific to

the southern New Jersey microclimate. For the past decade, we've also been working with

dozens of different varietals in accordance with our soil, climate and growing season. By

specializing in specific grapes, we've fine-tuned our production and have won numerous

awards, attesting to our wine's quality. Cynthiana, also known as 'Norton,' the only North

American varietal which can produce a big, bold, old-world style table wine, has garnered

us the coveted Governor's Cup two years in a row -- a first in the Governor's Cup competition!

Other Valenzano Winery produced varietals are Chambourcin (our signature red wine),

Cabernet Franc, Vidal Blanc, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Just developing an interest in wine or prefer a wine not overly dry or tannic? Shamong Red,

one of our most popular wines, is perfect choice. Made from locally grown concord grapes,

Shamong Red, unlike traditional wines, is semi-sweet, fruity, light, easy to drink, very

versatile, and available in wine stores throughout New Jersey.

If you like cranberries, you'll love 'Making Holiday Traditions' Valenzano Cranberry Wine.

What started off as an experiment has turned into in a decade of a 'must have' for the

locals during Thanksgiving, or any holiday meal or get-together. Valenzano Winery

utilizes the wetlands, and the natural acidity and PH of the soil, which are home to one

of the largest cranberry production areas in the world - the New Jersey Pine Barrens.

"Making Holiday Traditions' Valenzano Cranberry Wine, considered a true fruit wine,

tastes surprisingly refreshing - not sweet, not dry - but very easy to drink and appealing

to traditional wine drinkers, making it a well-rounded wine that can be enjoyed with light

meats, a variety of cheeses, antipasto and salads, and is the perfect complement to a

stuffed turkey dinner. Our passion for this wine has enabled us to expand our production

and offer it for nationwide distribution.

Available at most south Jersey fine wine stores, Valenzano wines are now being sold in

northern New Jersey as well, and Valenzano Winery grapevines can be found not only at

our three Shamong locations, but at over a dozen local farms throughout south Jersey

including Atco, Vineland, Hammonton, Tabernacle and Mullica Hill. As we continue to

expand our vineyards and production, we actively seek other New Jersey farms that may

want to become grape growers for Valenzano wines.

Our goal is to inform the public about the New Jersey wine industry, and allow customers

to taste for themselves how New Jersey wineries can produce award-winning wines from

the fruitful vineyards of the Garden State.

Visit Valenzano Winery for a complimentary wine tasting, relaxed atmosphere and good

conversation. You're sure to find a bottle of wine that you'll truly enjoy. We guarantee it.
