The Vincraft Group, a Sonoma-based wine company, announced today that it has purchased pioneering Russian River Valley Pinot Noir producer Gary Farrell Winery from Ascentia Wine Estates. With this acquisition, Vincraft expands its small portfolio of fine wine companies, including the critically acclaimed Kosta Browne Winery.
Located on Westside Road in the heart of the Russian River Valley, Gary Farrell Winery crafts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from some of Sonoma County's finest vineyards. Vincraft is a local group, dedicated to preserving the winery's history, honoring its legacy in the region, and renewing its focus on vineyard expression through the highest quality winemaking.
"The Vincraft Group is committed to providing our brands with the resources and support they need to ensure future success," said Pete Scott, CEO of The Vincraft Group. "We welcome the opportunity to include this great brand in our portfolio. Gary Farrell Winery is a top-notch producer with the consummate Russian River heritage. We can't wait to reconnect with customers and the industry to elevate awareness of all that Gary Farrell Winery has to offer."
"Vincraft seeks opportunities where we and the management team have a shared vision of the winery's unique culture and long-term potential," he continued. "Vincraft expects and encourages each of our portfolio wineries to operate independently, thus preserving the qualities and characteristics that differentiate luxury brands."
"We are incredibly passionate about what we do," said Susan Reed, Winemaker, "and The Vincraft Group is the perfect partner to ensure fine wine quality and customer focus going forward."
"Having Vincraft as our new owner gives Gary Farrell Winery a partnership with the resources to enhance our standing as a premier wine producer," said Gary Archer, Operations Manager.
The winery was founded by Gary Farrell with the 1982 vintage of Rochioli-Allen Pinot Noir. From the beginning, the winery helped to brand the Russian River Valley and Sonoma County as one of the world's premier Pinot Noir growing regions. The tradition will now continue with fine Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays sourced from some of the area's leading vineyards.

| Georgia Becomes 37th State to Allow Sunday Liquor Sales |

ATLANTA, Ga.-Communities across Georgia now have the opportunity to vote on Sunday alcohol sales under a bill signed this morning by Gov. Nathan Deal repealing the statewide ban on Sunday sales, according to the Distilled Spirits Council.
"This is an important step for consumer convenience, market modernization and free enterprise," said Distilled Spirits Council president Peter Cressy, whose organization has supported Sunday sales in states across the country. "For years now, consumers and newspapers across the state have urged the repeal of this outdated Blue Law. We congratulate the State Legislature for its leadership in passing this bill, and Governor Deal for signing it into law."
Senate Bill 10, authored by Sen. John Bulloch and supported by Rep. Roger Williams, passed the State Legislature on April 12 and was signed by Gov. Deal today at the Capitol. The law takes effect July 1 and allows for special alcohol elections as early as November 2011.
Several Georgia communities have already expressed interest in putting Sunday alcohol sales measures on local ballots this year, Cressy noted.
Georgia becomes the 37th state to pass Sunday liquor sales; and leaves Connecticut and Indiana as the only two states that still ban Sunday sales of liquor, wine and beer at off-premise establishments such as package stores. Fifteen states, including Georgia, have passed Sunday alcohol sales laws since 2002. |
| A Fireside Chat with Can in Hand |
|

The 21st Amendment Brewery is releasing its first seasonal beer in a can, Fireside Chat, a winter spiced ale.
Fireside Chat gets its name, and inspiration from the Golden Age of radio when President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's fireside chats, which often began with the words, "Good evening, friends," were hugely popular and his message was one of reassurance and hope.
Fireside Chat is a subtle twist on the traditional seasonal brew, says the San Francisco, Calif.-based brewery. Crafted to brighten the faces of those who enjoy it, near the hearth or at the table, Fireside Chat is described as a subtle blend of spices that balances the malty ale, appealing to foodie's as it can pair well with many holiday meals. The brew begins with a rich dark ruby brown, English-style ale and then is improvised with spices until the flavor is just right for sharing.
Nico Freccia and Shaun O'Sullivan, 21st Amendment co-founders, are proud of the winter ale. "I hope everyone will have fun giving Fireside Chat a try," says Freccia.
"It's brewed to be a beer to share and to celebrate the warmth and aromas and flavors of the season," adds Brewmaster O'Sullivan.
21st Amendment Brewery has brewed various winter specialty beers since the brewery first opened 10 years ago. To make it unique each year, O'Sullivan personally selects a special blend of spices for the beer, based on the moment's inspiration. In the tradition of the holidays, it's only available now through December.
Fireside Chat's can and six-pack graphics feature FDR relaxing by the fire and having a chat with an elf. The retro style is familiar and inviting and conjures up Norman Rockwell images of American families gathering around a big boxy radio or the fireplace (with a wry twist).
Fireside Chat is available in cans and on draft starting this week at quality bars and stores in all 15 of 21st Amendment's current distribution territories, including CA, OR, WA, AK, ID, MN, OH, MA, NY, NJ, DC, MD, PA, VA, and GA. |
