Dear chuck,

beer can chickenSummer is starting to come to an end, but first Oskar Blues has a fun event for everyone. On Saturday August 27th from 2-4pm, out in the parking lot brewery representatives will be barbecuing samples of beer-can chicken. Inside the store, we will be tasting Oskar Blues G'Knight Imperial Red, Gubna Imperial IPA, Dale's Pale Ale and Mama's Little Yella Pils.

Come in eat some chicken, sample some beers and maybe get some grilling ideas.

Sincerely,

Matt Bates

Dale's Pale AleOskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale
B+ AB, B BA, 98 RB

Froth turns to a dusting of white lace all the way down; bright copper color has a nice sparkle in the light. Quick nose blitz of citric and pine from the hops, with some maltiness and fruit in the back. Smoothness drops on the palate quickly, and then the other shoe drops with a crest of hops that rides strong with bitterness and citric, earthy, mint and pine flavors that push hard against a bready caramel malt. Alcohol kicks in late with some warmth and fruitiness. Blurring the lines of Pale Ale and IPA. Such an amazing canned beer. ~ Alstrom Brothers

Everyday Low Price: $8.49 (6-pack) or $16.99 (12-pack)

Old ChubOskar Blues Old Chub
A- AB, B+ BA, 97 RB

A- Deep brown hue with bright reddish highlights when held up to the light. The mild carbonation brings a thin but sticky lace.

S- Chocolate malted milk balls, so malty rich ... faintly cloying with a clean alcohol in the nose.

T&M- Full bodied, creamy smooth mouth feel. The palate is full of unsweetened chocolate, caramel and "Breakfast Blend" coffee. Big maltiness is matched by a slow warming alcohol that gleans a bit of spice. Ghost-like smokiness. Hops are mild or at least meek in comparison to the malt. Very rich with a sweet finish.

D- Very easy to sip, I still would not drink it out of the can ... a beer like this needs a glass no matter what. One of the most amazing beers in a can ... I'd easily have this beer around all of the time. ~ Alstrom Brothers

Everyday Low Price: $8.49 (6-pack) or $16.99 (12-pack)

Little Yellow PilsOskar Blues Mama's Little Yellow Pils
B AB/BA

White head crackles but the lacing stays; shiny sunspot-yellow color. From fresh-cut grass to perfume-like wild- flowers to bready tones ... a lively aroma. Surprisingly big crispness from a can, which accentuates the hop bitter- ness to produce a refreshing snap and bite. A clean, bready malt comes up on the palate, slowly forming its needed base. A stand-up malt and well-placed hop complexities make it very well balanced. A sheer delight to quaff; the earth may not shake with each sip, but it does its job, and a damn good job it does. ~ Alstrom Brothers

Everyday Low Price: $8.49 (6-pack)

Oskar Blues Gubna 1Gubna Imperial Ale
B BA, 98 RB

Emphasizing that complexity of character can arise from simple elements, this ale is made with three malts and one hop. Its light amber color and slightly spicy malt character are derived from the use of German Dark Munich Malt and Rye Malt respectively. North American 2-row barley combines with the other grains to lay the foundation for the hop onslaught to come. Summit hops are used exclusively in the boil for bitterness, flavor and aroma but it doesn't end there. Post-fermentation dry hopping allows the 10% ABV monstrosity to gently coax the citrus rind and grapefruit aroma to join the 100 IBUs already present. This beer should greet you with a pungent citrus blast, provide a spicy yet round middle and finish with a brisk, clean bitterness. ~ RB

Everyday Low Price: $13.99 (4-pack)

G'KnightOskar Blues G'Knight (Gordon)
A- BA, B+ AB, 99 RB

Brewed with six malts and three hop varieties, and then dry-hopped with Amarillo. The result is an 85 IBU and 8.7% monster urging you to crack it out of its aluminum cell.

Pours a bright amber and deep copper-colored brew that's topped with a healthy foam head--plenty of stick and retention. Aroma is immense, resiny with pine, intense herbal notes, wood and grapefruit. Wicked smooth on the palate, creamy and lush. Lightly carbonated, but there's a slight rising that tries to push through the beer's dense malty backbone of caramel, candy and sweet tropical-like fruits. Very bready beneath, with a faint honey note too. Nice smacking of hops, which are not overly bitter, but packed with flavor. More grapefruit, a dust of chalky aspirin, sticky resins, grassy edge and pith. The alcohol lifts its headiness and says hello as the beer warms, but for the most part that 8.7 is nicely hidden. Dry finish with hop coarse tannins, oils and residual wood.

For the jaded über-beer geek, Gordon might appear a bit tame. For those who enjoy hops or are looking to get into big hoppy beers, Gordon offers a great balance of bold flavor and drinkability--with a nice kick in the ass. ~ Alstrom Brothers

Coyote Gold Ready to Drink Margarita

Coyote Gold Margarita

"The difference is in the tequila. Rather than using cheaper neutral-grain alcohol, artificial flavors and dyes, Coyote Gold uses authentic tequila. Our margaritas are custom blended with premium reposado tequila imported from the land of the Aztecs. Using an ancient family recipe and the same hand-crafted methods as their ancestors, our tequila distiller  prepares a blue agave blend "rested" in oak barrels until perfectly matured. [...]

We also handcraft an orange liqueur using our proprietary recipe blending flavors of natural citrus juices, pure juices, and pure cane sugar (no corn syrup in Coyote Gold!) with a fine American-grain spirit four times distilled. Finally, the Coyote Gold All Natural Margarita is custom blended and packaged to guarantee a perfect margarita every time."
