Partial Transcript: "On Tap Cave Creek Chili Beer
Hola. Soy Jaime Knott y esto es su Mejor Autoridad de Cerveza. Today we are talking about Cave Creek Chili Beer, which was originally brewed by Crazy Ed at the Black Mountain Brewing Company in Cave Creek, Arizona starting in 1989.
Today it is brewed by the Cerveceria Mexicana in Tecate, Mexico
It receives a D- on BeerAdvocate.com and is in the Zero percentile on RateBeer. Basically most beer nerds think this is the worst beer theyve ever had.
This has 4.7% ABV and IBUs arent a factor in this puppy. The style is listed as Chili Beer on BeerAdvocate.com, but it is basically a watered down American adjunct lager with a chili in each bottle.
Speaking of watered down Lets learn about water.
Water is the number one ingredient in beer. It contains different minerals that affect the flavor of beer.
Historically speaking, the chemistry of water in a certain region determined what kind of beers could be produced successfully. For example, the hard water in Dublin is well-suited for making stouts like Guinness.
Today, brewers understand how to change the mineral content of water and therefore beer styles are much less regional.
