2009 Sorrel Canyon Chardonnay-This is another phantom label from the Wine & Spirits

Guild - basically wine made from a higher end label sold for a fraction of the cost under

a different label.

A brilliant, light-catching straw color. Framed with flavors of apple, sweet melons and

citrus, it follows with an underlying hint of honey glaze and a touch of oak. The citrus

follows in the mouth balanced by bright acidity and toasty oak. Barrel aging 29% New

French Oak and 71% neutral French Oak. 100% Chardonnay. This is a terrific substitute

to your favorite white Burgundy or Pinot Gris. Full-flavored but not tremendously heavy,

it dances across your tongue and finishes clean and dry. Terrific with oysters and other

shellfish, but also pairs well with most chicken and pasta dishes. Great alone too.

black cherries and blackberries emerge upon the palate. The fruit is beautifully balanced with

a smooth, long finish. This wine has tremendous structure without the feel of excessive tannins

or oak. Serve with grilled lamb chops or braised short ribs.

2009 Rabbit Ridge Allure de Robles- This wine is medium bodied with strawberry and cherry

overtones from the Grenache, body from the Syrah and richness from the Mourvèdre. This

wine is a great choice for sipping or with a wide variety of foods like bbq meats and pulled pork.
Was $9.99     with e-mail $7.99

Marietta Old Vine Red Lot 54 - Lot 54 carries on the tradition in stride with loads of rich and deep

berry and plum and peppery spice as well as hints of mild spicy and toasty oak, dusty earth,

and a light gamey quality that add to the complexity. The color is deep ruby and purple, and the

mouthfeel is forward, dense, and pleasantly rustic and ripe in a Zin-like style.
Was $12.49     with e-mail $9.99

2007 Pedroncelli Family Vineyards Petite SirahRated 90 points Wine Enthusiast  (Dry Creek Valley);

This is a great value in a Petite Sirah that shows how well the variety performs in a great vintage

in a warmer climate. With 20% Syrah, which seems to add richness and nobility, the wine is bone

dry and elegant in mouthfeel, with complex blackberry, black currant, grilled beef, black pepper

and cedar flavors. Drink now. Best Buy.
Was $13.99     with e-mail $10.99

2009 Poets Leap Riesling - Rated 95 points Wine Enthusiast-With residual sugar at about 1.35%,

this balances the acidity without seeming sweet. Hand-picked and whole-cluster pressed, this

immaculate, fresh, generous and stylish Riesling is always at the top of the list of Washington's

best.  Loaded with grapefruit, citrus and stone flavors, it cleans the palate and piles on the details

as it rolls into a finish that lingers well over a full minute." Editor's Choice, #7 ranking in their

"Top 100 Wines of 2010"
Was $20.99     with e-mail $17.99

2009 Monte Oton Garnacha - Rated 88 points Stephen Tanzer.Deep, vivid red. Lively aromas of

redcurrant and raspberry lifted by flowers and minerals; this almost reminded me of pinot noir.

Sweet red berry fruit and floral flavors are spurred by tangy acidity and show a slightly jammy

quality with air. What this lacks in complexity is made up in exuberant fruit. Finishes clean, with

lasting sweetness. Here's another remarkable bargain.
Was $10.99     with e-mail $8.99

2008 Mendel Lunta Malbec - Rated 90 points Wine Advocate. Spice box, incense, lavender, hint of

balsamic, leather, black cherry; savory, ripe, drink now-2020.
Rated 89 points Stephen Tanzer - Bright ruby-red. Intriguing aromas of spices, gunflint, chocolate

and meat. Intensely flavored and supple but not especially fleshy, with an edge of acidity giving

balance and a juicy quality to the sweet back end.

Suave wine for the price. 89 points. Was $19.99     with e-mail $14.99

2009 Mackenzie Russian River Reserve Chardonnay - The Winery selects the best barrels of the

vintage which allows them to create a wine with balanced oak, fruit, and spice flavors richly textured

A wine made for Chardonnay lovers. Chardonnay pairs readily with a variety of foods including

fresh fruit, aged cheeses, green salads, lighter pasta, poultry, pork and seafood. One of the great

 user-friendly chards in the marketplace
Was $21.99    with e-mail $13.99

2010 Crios Torrontes  - Rated 90 points Stephen Tanzer - Perfumed aromas of peach nectar and

flowers. Juicy, pure and intense, with lovely floral perfume and bright framing acidity. A bit

viognier-like like in its floral complexity. Finishes juicy and long, and not a bit heavy. This is the

#1 torrontes imported from Argentina and virtually never misses.
Was $14.99     with e-mail $11.99

Curioso Sparkling Rose of Malbec - Ripe wild strawberries in the nose accompanied by flavors of

cherries and spice notes. Celebrate in style with this sparkler. Enjoy the "bubbles" with light snacks,

mild cheeses, crab dip and at the end of a meal with a bowl of fresh berries and whipped cream.
Was $15.99    with e-mail $9.99

2009 Mackenzie Merlot Sonoma - Spicy; yet mild with its upfront aromas of licorice, sweet plums

and mint followed by flavors of blueberry fruit framed by cinnamon nuances and nuts. This is a wine

to enjoy with a mild cheese on a rice cracker or with a light tomato based marinara sauce over

bowtie pasta and chicken sausage or hand formed sirloin burgers infused with crumbled blue cheese

and grilled medium served with a tri color salad.
Was $16.99     with e-mail $13.99

 Windy Lane Meritage 2007

2007 Windy Lane North Coast Meritage- A marriage made in heaven or at least made in one of

California's prime wine country regions. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Red Hills vineyard and

40% Merlot from Oak Knoll. Dark black fruit gives it the strength and character coupled with the

cherry and tobacco flavors and then the blue fruit kicks in

softening it up and leaving the finish smooth and satisfying. Try it with red meats pasta dishes

in a red sauce and firm fleshy fish. Brilliant complexity for the price, supple tannins and deep

velvety mouthfeel this wine feels like a $30 Medoc.

2006 Flowers "Andreen-Gale" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay -Rated 91 points Wine & Spirits.

Andreen-Gale is on its way to becoming Flowers' blend of estate vineyards (this vintage is

about 80 percent estate; by 2008, it will be all estate). It's all barrel-fermented, with a higher

proportion of new barrels than Flowers uses in the Sonoma Coast wine. For now, this wine's

aroma and flavor are restrained, giving a clean, gentle  impression that's light rather than

pushed. There's the warm spice of alcohol in the end, like tasting paprika on fresh pineapple.

Decant for grilled sea bass.
Also, 92 points Connoisseur Guide to Wine critical acclaim:
"Taut and nervy aromas of Pippin apples backed up by sweeter wisps of Gala apple perfumes

are filled out handsomely by quiet but intriguing notes of chalk and other minerals as well as

a mild but evident dollop of creme brulee oak. If this wine's first notes hint at limits, its

succeeding impressions convince that there are both depth aplenty and impeccable balance

here. Admittedly, you will need to be a fan of firm, crisp Chardonnays, and, if so, this one

comes straight up your alley. "
Suggested Retail $52.99     with e-mail $26.99

2009 Chateau Ste. Michelle Dry Riesling (Columbia Valley) Rated 89 points Wine Enthusiast.

Dry Riesling began as a limited, regional offering, but with a price drop and a three-fold increase

in production in 2009, it seems to have arrived on the national stage. Loaded with tight, tart

fruit flavors of apple, pear, grapefruit and lemon, this dense and delightful wine is surefire for

a wide range of seafood and pastas in white sauce.
Was $9.99     with e-mail $7.99

Mumm Napa Brut Napa Valley Prestige - Rated 90 points Wine Spectator. Crisp and elegantly

styled, with floral apple and yeasty spice aromas that lead to layered flavors of backed pear,

citrus and creamy vanilla. Drink now.
Was $19.99     with e-mail $15.99

2007 Stags Leap Wine Cellars Artemis Cabernet Sauvignon - Rated 94 points Wine Enthusiast.

Here's a Cab to put in the cellar. It's big and rich and frankly sensational, just massive in blackberries,

currants and sweet dark chocolate. The tannins are fierce, but very fine, and the overall balance

is impeccable. Too astringent now, even with decanting, but should easily improve in the bottle

throughout the next decade.
Was $53.99     wit he-mail $44.99

2009 Borsao Red Campo de Borja - Rated 89 points Wine Enthusiast. A delicious wine and very

much the model for value in Spanish Garnacha. That this has 25% Tempranillo only seems to make

it better; the nose is sweet but full and plumy. The palate is pure, flavorful and sweet, with baked

cherry, earthiness and a hint of chocolate. A wine to buy in quantity, ie by the case.
Was $8.99     with e-mail $6.99

2009 Georges Duboeuf Moulin a Vent Domaine de La Tour du Bief - Rated 91 points Wine Spectator.

Roasted mint and thyme seasons kirsch, grilled plum and boysenberry notes in this elegant red,

which is grippy, with a creamy texture and a lingering smoky finish. Drink now through 2016.
Was $17.99     with e-mail $14.99

2006 Ruffino Modus - Rated 91 points Wine Spectator. Blackberry, violet and licorice aromas

follow through to a full body, with silky tannins. This has sweet fruit, with toasty oak and citrus

fruit on the finish. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best after 2010.
Was $25.99     with e-mail $19.99

2009 Hogue Columbia Valley Late Harvest Riesling - Rated 89 points Wine & Spirits. Scents of

apple cider and a Spatlese - sweet middle palate give this wine a generous feel, as fresh and

bright as just cut pears.
Was $8.99     with e-mail $7.99

2005 Domaine Carneros Brut Cuvee- Rated 92 points Wine Spectator. Beautifully focused

and refined, with Gala apple and raspberry aromas and flavors that are crisp yet layered,

with creamy lemon and lime notes and a finish that lingers with mineral and a hint of yeast.
Was $25.99     with e-mail $18.99

2009 Los Cowboys Malbec - This Malbec offers dense flavors of dark plum and chocolate

layered with oak. The finish is long, velvety, and elegant. Los Cowboys Malbec is Fair

Trade CertifiedTM from grapes sourced from 90-year-old vines planted in a soil composed

of clay and loam. The region has both coastal and mountain influences. The climate is

cold winters with very hots summers moderated by the high altitude.
Was $12.99     with e-mail $8.99

Lost Abbey 10 Commandments Ale- This bold Belgian Strong Ale is full of unique flavors

ranging from raisins and fig fruits to honey and cinnamon.  Bold malts and bright hops

marry throughout the drink while the finish is long well into the next drink.  At 10%ABV,

this is definitely an ale worth aging, but snag one for the perfect after-dinner brew.
 Was- $14.49                    Email- $11.49     750ml

Petrus Aged Pale-  Sour lemon and smooth oak on the nose with refreshing hints of pear.

The drink is full bodied with tones of honeydew and hops with a clean finish.  Balanced and

well priced, Aged Pale is perfect for the sour lovers, as well as the sour novice.
 Was- $5.99                     Email- $4.49       12oz

Scaldis Peche Mel-  With bold peach notes, not of a lambic sort, but more tart and full

flavored:  Peche Mel is a powerful Belgian brew with just the right amount of fruit influence.

Apricot and hops round out the drink leaving a lingering hint of peach cobbler on the palate.
 Was- $4.99                     Email- $3.99       12oz

Maker's Mark 46-  Like Maker's?  You'll love 46... With the crafty addition of new oak staves

in the barrel, Maker's 46 is imparted with even more delicious tones of vanilla and oak spices.

Perfect for any whiskey lover, especially if bold flavors and a remarkable finish is what you

are looking for.

2009 Altovinum Evodia Old Vine Grenache Calatayud - Rated 90 points Stephen Tanzer International

Wine Cellar -  (100% garnacha; all stainless steel) Delicious, high-pitched aromas of strawberry

preserves, black raspberry, minerals and pungent flowers. Concentrated but not at all heavy;

sweet raspberry and blackberry flavors are lifted by a hint of violet. Very suave, especially at this

price; finishes with silky tannins and excellent clarity. No jamminess here, which is pretty rare for

inexpensive garnacha. These vines are reportedly planted at 850 to 1,100 meters altitude on slate

and are more than 100 years old. (Eric Solomon Selections, Charlotte, NC)

In the early 1990s, Pine Ridge crafted this unusual and delectable blend as an experimental bottling, creating one of our most beloved and popular wines.  This unique marriage of two varietals that would never share the same bottle in their native France unites the crisp, honeyed fruit of Chenin Blanc with the plush body, light floral aromas and juicy stone fruit notes of Viognier, for a wine that is both sophisticated and easy to enjoy .

2009 Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc-Viognier Rated 90 points Wine Advocate.  "Consistently a killer wine value is Pine Ridge's blend of 80% Chenin Blanc and 20% Viognier.  The 2009 Chenin Blanc/Viognier offers up soaring floral notes intermixed with white peaches and apricots.  This delectable, fresh, crisp, light-bodied dry white should be drunk over the next year." The Chenin gives it the juicy flavor like a ripe honeydew melon while the Viognier adds a lush, honey like topping. Together they make a wine that is bright with a slightly sweet fruity flavor and so easy to drink all by itself. But it's also the perfect addition to lots of appetizers... Try it with soft cheeses, shrimp, smoked sea foods like salmon or trout, or even prosciutto and melon as a starter wine.

Tuesday's Australian Wine Tasting

Thank you for being patient with us these past few

weeks while we prepare the store for inventory -

Make sure to check out Thursday's ad after 8a.m.

for a special two day sale to show our

appreciation to our valued customers.

2008 Joseph Carr Sauvignon Blanc - Rated 90 points Wine Enthusiast. We need wines like this that

are super-dry, ultra-crisp in acidity and sleekly lean. This one's the anti-Chardonnay. It's tightly

wound in minerals and citrus fruits, a Sancerre-style wine born to drink with food. Crab salad in

lettuce wraps or chicken satay skewers come to mind. Editors' Choice."

Was $13.99     with e-mail $8.99

Freixenet Elyssia Pinot Noir Brut - has an intense aroma of raspberries and blackberries with a

fresh and fruity mid-palate followed by a lovely, sweet aftertaste with a soft acidity.

Rated 90 points The Wine News"Pale gold hue with persistent, driving bubbles. Forward lemon

drop chalk aromas with a hint of seashore. Ripe flavors of pear and apple brightened by fresh,

youthful acidity. Dry, crisp finish with notes of bread dough and ginger

Was $16.49     with e-mail $8.99

2009 Artesa Chardonnay - Rated 91 points Wine Enthusiast. Artesa's dual fermentation approach,

in which oak-barrel and stainless-steel-tank fermentation are used, has resulted in this startlingly

appealing Chardonnay. Braced with Carneros acidity, it shows mineral-infused orange, lemon and

mango flavors, with a smooth coating of toasty oak.

Was $16.99    with e-mail $13.99

2009 Hogue Gewurztraminer - Rated 90 points Wine Enthusiast. Very fine, full and fruity, this is a

remarkably flavorful wine. It captures just a hint of the floral/soapy side of the grape, but brings in

delicious fruit flavors of peach and pear and melon and more, a luscious mix that continues to

resonate right on through a powerful finish. It's just slightly off-dry, but not really sweet.

Was $8.99     with e-mail $6.99

2010 Silver Beach Sauvignon Blanc - This wine is produced for members of Wine and Spirits Guild -

This wine is sourced from a single-vineyard estate on the cool, sunny, southern side of

Marlborough's Wairau Valley Nestled on the terraces of the Omaka River. Concentrated passion

fruit and grapefruit aromas with a complex lees note underlying. Generous fruit flavors and

enhanced textures through lees aging have given this wine great interest across the palate.

A Sauvignon Blanc fan's favorite, this is a must try with ham and pineapple dishes, littleneck

clams, oysters, grilled shrimp and herbed cream or soft cheeses, and to take the heat off

spicy cuisine. From New Zealand.

Suggested Retail $12.99     with e-mail $8.99

2009 Baus Family Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon - Alexander Valley - A full-bodied and

rich Cabernet, this wine is dark ruby in color, with aromas of dark fruit and cloves. Flavors of

black cherries and blackberries emerge upon the palate. The fruit is beautifully balanced with

a smooth, long finish. This wine has tremendous structure without the feel of excessive

tannins or oak. Serve with grilled lamb chops or braised short ribs.

Suggested price $24.99     Argonaut low price of $13.99

2006 J Sonoma Pinot Noir  -Rated 92 points Wine News- Light cherry and cinnamon aromas

with a hint of citrus peel. Delicate cherry, strawberry and new oak flavors offer a core of brown

spice and fine-grain tannins. A charming, well-made Pinot with a staircase of flavors that

continue to climb in the finish." California's Russian River is one of the best regions for growing

complex, earthy pinot noirs, like this one from J Wine Company. Packed with cherry fruit aromas,

underpinned by earthy, forest floor, black licorice and spice notes. The wine is broad on the

attack with tons of cherry cola like red fruit mid-palate and hints of oak on the finish. Good

acidity makes this a wine for your table, whether you're enjoying lamb kebabs or grilled salmon.

Was $52.99     with e-mail $25.99

2009 Voluptuoso Cabernet Sauvignon - A dark purple color leads way to a bouquet of plum,

tobacco and roasted coffee beans. Lots of cassis and black currant flavors. The silky tannins

make it sexy and  approachable. Try it with chicken, game birds, pork and pastas in a cream sauce.

Was $15.99     with e-mail $8.99

Suggested Retail $52.99     today only  $26.99

2009 Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc-Viognier Rated  90 points Wine Advocate.  "Consistently a

killer wine value is Pine Ridge's 45,000 case blend of 80% Chenin Blanc and 20% Viognier.

The 2009 Chenin Blanc/Viognier offers up soaring floral notes intermixed with white peaches

and apricots.  This delectable, fresh, crisp, light-bodied dry white should be drunk over the

next year." The Chenin gives it the juicy flavor like a ripe honeydew melon while the Viognier

adds a lush, honey like topping. Together they make a wine that is bright with a slightly

sweet fruity flavor and so easy to drink all by itself. But it's also the perfect addition to lots

of appetizers... Try it with soft cheeses, shrimp, smoked sea foods like salmon or trout, or

even prosciutto and melon as a starter wine.

Was $11.99     with e-mail $9.99

2009 Tilia Malbe/ Syrah - Rated 88 points Wine & Spirits Best Buy. From its aromas of ripe

red raspberries to its soft, almost creamy texture, this is a wine with generosity and grace.

It finishes clean and balanced. For roast turkey.
Was $8.99     with e-mail $6.99

2006 Abbaye de Saint-Ferme - The follow up vintage for the wildly popular 2005 Bordeaux

that was Abbaye De Saint-Ferme promises more of the same. Still an easy drinking crowd

pleaser at a phenomenal value. Definitely don't hesitate or it might be waiting for the next

vintage ...Bordeaux - 100% Estate bottled and aged in French oak barrels for six months -

ripe flavors of sweet black cherries and chocolate. This is a ripe blend of Merlot,

Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Rich and appealing, it is drinking perfectly right now,

with tons of fruit augmented by a subtle background of soft spices. Excellent with beef or lamb.

Was $5.99     with e-mail $4.99

Unibroue Quelque Chose-  This unique marriage of a Belgian Kriek and brown Ale brewed by the

folks at Unibroue in Chambly, Quebec is an 8% flavor bomb.  A dark burgundy pour leads into

a nose of aged cherries and raspberry with cake spices and vanilla underlying.  The drink is tannic

with sour fruits and a zesty presence of citrus that lingers on the palate well onto the next sip.

Buy several for these monsters will lay down for up to 15years.
Was- $12.99                       Email- $9.99         750ml

Chimay Red-  A staple in beer drinking, Chimay has given the beer world a lot to be thankful

you're a fan of Oak-Aged brews.  The double Marzen style exploits the fresh vanilla and caramel

tones from the new American Oak barrels used to give the beer a unique, complex drink that is

both smooth and bold making it perfect for food pairings.  Lush peach/pineapple fruits on the

nose while the drink is long with lingering cinnamon spices and at 11%, this beer is only going

2008 Baus Family Old Vine Zinfandel -

This vineyard sits above the fog-line and well above the benchmark of great Zins! Bold mountain

fruit and flavors of brambleberries and grape jam with the right touch of exotic spices and black

pepper. The finish is long and luscious with wild berries and velvety tannins. Serve it up with

rigatoni in a sausage ragu, strip steak with Borsin and a Zin sauce and roasted eye-of-round

with fresh steamed green beans and twice-baked potatoes. This is a staff favorite.

Suggested price $24.99     today only $13.99

2004 Mapema Primera Zona - In winemaking, two heads are definitely better than one when trying to make an incredible wine. Longtime friends and winemakers Pepe Galante (Pepe was the head winemaker for Catena Zapata for 32 years and a leading professor of winemaking in Mendoza)  and Mariano Di Paola (Mariano is the head of the University Enological Technology department and head winemaker for Bodega La Rural). banded together in 1999 to bring well over 40 years of winemaking expertise to their Mapema wine. Theirs is a history of rich individual accomplishments; Pepe and Mariano are widely recognized as two of Argentina's most talented winemakers. They joined forces with one thought in mind: take the expertise and experience of two seasoned winemakers, search out the best possible grape sources (in the "primera zona" or top viticultural area), and make just one super wine from each harvest. This is their third release. A deep red blend with aromas of plums and strawberries that merge with hints of vanilla and oak. In the mouth, it comes right at you with a burst of black cherry and tangy red fruit, and trails into delicate flavors of chocolate, tobacco, coffee and oak. It achieves that elusive combination of concentration, complexity and finesse. Great with foods like veal chops, duck with fruit sauces, beef, lamb, grilled or roasted chicken, and game birds. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Malbec, 20% Merlot - only 1000 cases produced. - Argonaut got 56 more of them.
